Located in the heart of East Village, Veselka has been serving the best Ukrainian food around since 1945. 12 Weeks of Summer is a special menu they run for the summer season featuring delicious items like blueberry pierogis, watermelon iced tea, and cold borscht. Tom Birchard, the owner of Veselka, was looking for a way to bring customers in and indulge the new menu. An outdoor chalkboard was the perfect plan for pulling in anyone passing by.
During the holiday season, Bryant Park and Union Square fill with pop-up shops from local restaurants and business owners selling food and gifts. I recreated Veselka's classic beet logo on the back wall of their very own pop-up shop in Bryant Park.
